Mastering Priorities and Time Management for Busy Moms

Can it be done? Yes!

Is it simple? Yes!

So what’s the magic tip? Well, in a word it’s this:

Priorities.

The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities

– Steven Covey

That’s it? Yep. That’s it.

The problem you see, is that we like to think that everything is important. But, it’s not. They key is to decide what is most important, and to know this you have to identify what is of greatest worth to you and your family according to your own personal values. And there is no “one size fits all” for this, because no other family has the unique dynamics that yours does. Nobody else can tell you why something should be important to you, because they aren’t you! So sit down, and sort out what your values are. Once you do, it’ll be easier to identify what your priorities should be. Then…

Schedule your priorities.

If you value family time, stop forcing yourself and the kids out the door every night of the week to have meals on the go. Make adjustments.

If you value good health and the benefits that come with having a good nights rest, stop staying up so late and get yourself to bed.

If you value morning workouts before everyone wakes up, but struggle to get out the door in time, set your workout clothes out before you go to bed.

I am a stay home homeschooling, homesteading, part time college student with a side-hustle, who just so happens to be a god-fearing wife and mother who cherishes her role and serves others whenever I can. But that doesn’t mean I have to cram all that into a single day. I schedule (don’t judge me, k?) what days to wash whites, what day to wash colors. I schedule what days to spend an hour on the lawns (we’ve got 5 acres worth!) I schedule the number of textbook pages I need to read each day and I schedule dates with my husband and last remaining child (we’re almost there!) Get my drift?

The point is,

If it matters, you’ll make time for it. If it doesn’t, you won’t.

If you still find that it all matters! Then take a breath, go back to the beginning, and try reading again.
